An Homage to the Meet-Cute

Would Like to Meet

Rachel Winters

This book is an aborable bon-bon! Would Like to Meet celebrates rom-coms and those who love them.
My favorite scene involved a group of friends tipsily making a Venn diagram chart explaining rom-com categories and meet-cute types; these are my people!

Things I love:

- The deep nerdiness of this book; romantic comedy references abound. I especially appreciated the twist of the makeover trope.
- Cute premise- the MC has to try out meet-cutes for work, and prove they are a viable way of meeting a love interest.
- The friend group. While not without cliches (gay best friend), the relationship between the MC and her group of oldest and dearest friends is the most significant love story in the book, in my opinion.
- The ending, which, while not entirely unexpected, tied the story together in a lovely, heartwarming way.
- The sweetest kid ever- she'll steal your heart to.

Things I was less excited about:

- One of the potential love interests made me actually growl at the book in frustration. He was not a likeable/redeemable character, and I wish he had been a smaller part of the story.
- We don't get a ton of time with the MC actually being together with the love interest she chooses. I would have liked to get to enjoy them more.
